Prince’s Lawyer Rubbishes Reports Of Drug Abuse After Artist’s Death

Prince’s lawyer L. Londell McMillan has dismissed as “foolish” media reports suggesting that drug use contributed to Prince’s early death.

McMillan spoke to the Associated Press on Monday, saying, “Everybody who knows Prince knows he wasn’t walking around drugged up. That’s foolish. No one ever saw Prince and said, ‘He looks high.’ It wasn’t what he was about.”

TMZ in particular has reported multiple drug abuse-related claims about the singer in the days after his death, including that Prince was treated for a Percocet overdose the week before his death, and later that he “abused” cocaine.

McMillan commented that Prince may have taken medication to manage pain, but was “not on any drugs that would be any cause for concern.”

“People use medication,” he said. “The question is, are you on meds in a dangerous way?”

Prince died at the young age of 57 last week. The investigation into his death is ongoing, with toxicology reports not to be released for up to several weeks.

Today, Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson made an official claim that Prince has left no known will. She listed six siblings and half-siblings as heirs to Prince’s estimated $500 million fortune.
