Radiohead Have Released Their New Album & Here’s Everything You Need To Know

It’s here. Can you believe it? It’s actually here.

It seems like just yesterday we learned that Radiohead were gearing up to release their ninth studio album (it sort-of was) and now, A Moon Shaped Pool (great name) has landed.

Here’s everything you need to know wrapped up in a neat little package.

How Can I Hear It?

The record is currently available to buy online here or from iTunes here, and is available to stream via Apple Music.

Radiohead’s website is also offering pre-orders for a hard copy CD version that will ship out on June 17th, as well as a special edition release due to drop in September.

As for those who refuse to listen to music unless it’s on a record player (which tbh probably accounts for a large portion of Radiohead fans), you’ll have to wait til May 20th when XL Recordings – which previously released the band’s In Rainbows and The King of Limbs – will be putting out the band’s entire back catalogue on vinyl.

What’s On It?

A Moon Shaped Pool is packing 11 Radiohead tracks, including the just-released cuts Burn The Witch and Daydreaming.

However, interestingly, only three of them are brand spanking new: Decks Dark, Glass Eyes and Tinker Tailer Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Thief.

As NME reports, the rest of the songs that compose the disc have previously existed in some form or other, but not had full, official studio releases until now. Highlights include the 20-year-old live favourite True Love Waits and the less-old but just-as-exciting London Contemporary Orchestra choir collab, Identikit.

What Does The Cover Art Look Like?

I Want To Boost My Hipster Swag Rating But Lack The Ability To Think For Myself. What Are Some Words I Can Use To Describe It That Will Help Me Assert Musical Dominance Over My Peers?

That’s easy. Just use words like “dark”, “cerebral”, “haunting”, “stunning”, “moody”, “eloquent”, “cohesive”, “elegant”, “edgy”, “melancholy”, “pensive”, “murky”, “meditative”, “ethereal”, “dreamy” or “tense” and Bob’s your uncle.

Will They Tour Off It?

Most definitely. Radiohead have already announced an imminent world tour, with European, US and Japanese tour dates all pencilled in. And although no Australian dates have been unveiled *yet*, we’re hopeful that will soon change.

Meanwhile, the band have just announced that Portishead’s Clive Deamer will once again be joining them behind the kit for all of their 2016 live spots.
