Stereosonic Founder To Launch Two New Music Festivals Over The Next Year

From the ashes of Stereosonic, two new music festivals shall rise.

That’s according to Stereo founder Richie McNeill, who’s planning on launching two brand new events over the next year.

McNeill announced the big news to Mixmag, saying: “I am launching a new festival in December (and) have a camping festival launching next year.

“Heaps of tours. Heaps of new events. You’ll just have to wait and see. Can’t let too much out of the bag.”

The Music reports that the December festival will take place on the same weekend as the now-cancelled 2016 Stereosonic event in Sydney, with a spokesperson from Sydney Showgrounds confirming that a big event is indeed scheduled for that weekend.

McNeill’s Hardware Group is believed to be running the show, with the promoter saying he would again team up with fellow Stereo co-founder, Frank Cotela.

“Sure (I would work with him), Frank is great,” McNeill said. “He has always been forward thinking and we share a passion for the music and putting on shows.”

While it’s still to be confirmed whether the event will be EDM-based, considering McNeill’s background and the fact that the festival was birthed following Stereo’s demise, it’s highly likely.

While we wait for the big announcement, relive the grief of Stereo 2016’s cancellation by watching a heartbroken bro ceremonially bury his fake tan and durry pouch in the video, below.
