Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne, Slipknot Announce Joint Mega Festival ‘Ozzfest Meets Knotfest’

In the wee hours of this morning, Slipknot and Ozzy Osbourne had gathered a contingent of fans at a fan conference in Hollywood to announce the most unholy of unions – an allegiance between each of their festivals – Ozzfest Meets Knotfest.

Sure, the official title of it might be a little too close to When Harry Met Sally for some, but what’s in a name? Kicking off the conference was Sharon Osbourne, who, despite recently confirming her split from her husband, introduced Ozzy and Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath as well as Corey Taylor, Clown and Sid Wilson. Sharon would go on to give a bit of a backstory behind the collaboration, explaining that Ozzfest was the inaugural metal festival, effectively breaking the ice for Knotfest to come years later.

For two gloriously brutal days in September the two events will stand side by side, each with their own unique line up. Saturday, 24th September will be dedicated to Ozzfest, and the following Sunday, 25th September will be all about the Knot. San Bernardino is the lucky city chosen to host the summoning of hell.

As a band that got a serious leg up from performing at an Ozzfest past, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor was well stoked on the announcement:

“This could be the one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of. Starting out as an Ozzfest band, coming into our own with Knotfest and now combining forces to make a little metal history…it was meant to be and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

For more information you can check out the events official website. For anyone willing to book a flight to witness this moment in metal history, tickets go on sale May 20th.

However, don’t feel too left out. All signs seem to be pointing to a very, very near announcement from Slipknot regarding their Australian plans.

UPDATE 13/05/16: It’s official, Slipknot have announced 2016 Australian headline tour dates!
