Rudimental collaborator and newly born solo artist Anne-Marie dropped into the triple j studio this morning for Like A Version, taking on a tune from our very own SAFIA for the occasion.
Covering Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues is definitely no easy plight, but this Essex born blossoming diva sure did it make it look that way. She opened the session with some quick dancing to Nelly and giggling about being shut down by him in the past for a potential collaboration. And after what followed you couldn’t help but wonder how anyone could pass up working with such talent.
Her version was stripped back, supported by only acoustic guitar and drums, which left plenty of room for her vocals to soar front and centre. And that’s exactly how it went down. Her delivery was sincere and captivating, a mix of sensitivity and strength as she showcased her exceptional vocal ability with total ease.
Luckily it was all caught on camera while she is here for her Rudimental’s tour of Oz, and just before she heads back to the UK for the release of her upcoming single Alarm, out May 20th.
