Regurgitator have been announced as the headline act for this year’s Melbourne Reclink Community Cup. The event pits media and musicians against on another in the most equal terms possible – for a game of Aussie rules football in the name of charity and team spirit
The Gurge’ will be joining a team of generation-defining Aussie musos including Total Giovanni, The Sugarcanes, Loose Tooth and Ross Wilson (think Daddy Cool). As the event is AA, a special line up for the kids has been announced also, including Rhys Muldoon and Spiderbait’s Kram.
The event first kicked off back in 1993 and has been a raging, volunteer-powered success ever since. On average, the cup draws about 10,000 faithfuls a year, pulling in a cool $100,000 annually which goes straight to helping “at risk youth, those experiencing mental illness, people with a disability, the homeless, and people tackling alcohol and other drug issues, and social and economic hardship.”
Being the AFL capitol of the world, a lot of agency is put on the Melbourne showdown but as it’s touring nationally, the fierce rivalry between media and musos will be put on display all over the country.
