Corey Taylor has become the frontman of Stone Temple Pilots – at least, for five minutes – during a one-off benefit concert in Los Angeles.
STP are still on the hunt for a new singer to replace Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington and late icon Scott Weiland, but that didn’t stop them from recruiting a high-profile sub to perform at last week’s Adopt the Arts charity gig.
Presumably Scott Stapp was unavailable, so STP went for the next best thing, tapping the Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman to perform a rendition of their 1992 classic Sex Type Thing.
Taylor joined brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo – as well as ex-Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum – to form a (potentially?) one-off supergroup at the charity gig.
As Consequence Of Sound reports, after the performance, the DeLeo brothers stayed on stage to cover Stevie Wonder’s Superstition with Chili Pepper Chad Smith on drums, The Cult keyboardist Damon Fox, Mick jagger’s guitarist Stevie Salas, and legendary Deep Purple frontman Glenn Hughes.

Meanwhile, STP have confirmed that they’re close to picking their new lead singer. Could Corey or Glenn be legitimate contenders?
