Coldplay Announce 2016 Australian Tour

Coldplay have announced that they’re headed to Australia in December in support of their latest album Head Full Of Dreams.

Chris Martin and co. didn’t do a national tour for their sixth album Ghost Stories, instead playing an intimate one-off show in Sydney, so it will come as good news to fans wanting to see them back in large venues.

Unlike Ghost Stories, Head Full Of Dreams is tailor-made for big venues, full of euphoric choruses and singalong hooks. Suitably, Coldplay will play some of the country’s largest venues, starting at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday December 6th before moving on to Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium and Sydney’s Allianz Stadium.

“I think that not going on tour with Ghost Stories was one of the best decisions we ever made, because it gave us such pent-up energy in the studio and completely reignited everyone’s desire to go around the world and play music,” says Chris Martin. “A Head Full Of Dreams was written as a record to be performed live. We can’t wait to do that.”

This year, Coldplay have already played the Superbowl half time show and they’re also booked in as one of the headliners for this year’s Glastonbury. It’s the second time they’ve headlined the festival.

Tickets will go on sale at 2pm Monday, May 30th for Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland shows. Brisbane show tickets will go on sale one hour later at 3pm Monday, May 30th.
