Private Ceremony Held For Prince At Jehovah’s Witness Temple

Prince has been remembered at a private ceremony at a Jehovah’s Witness temple in the suburb of Minnetonka outside Minneapolis.

As reported by The Star Tribune, friends of the singer gathered for a 45 minute service including Shelia E and comedian Sinbad. None of his music was played at the service but his words were printed on the program.

“If I were to ever write down my life story, I could truly say with all the fame and glory, I was just a piece of clay in need of the potter’s hand,” read the back of the program, a quote taken from Prince’s 2006 track Beautiful, Loved and Blessed.

The service comes nearly a month after Prince’s death on 21st April. It was attended by Larry Graham, bass player of Sly and the Family Stone who originally drew Prince to become a Jehovah’s Witness in the early 2000s.

The service was closed to reporters and members of the general public but Prince’s family is planning a public memorial.

“The proposed plan is to have our memorial/funeral/tribute in August,” his sister Tyka Nelson wrote on Facebook.
