Sinead O’Connor Found Safe After Going Missing For More Than A Day

Sinead O’Connor has given everyone a scare after disappearing from Chicago on Sunday morning.

The singer was declared “missing suicidal” after unknown persons called police with concerns about her wellbeing, saying she’d gone for an early bike ride and never returned.

She’d reportedly been staying with friends in Wilmette, a suburb about 24 kays north of central Chicago.

“The Wilmette Police is seeking to check the well-being of Sinead O’Connor. O’Connor reportedly left the Wilmette area for a bicycle ride yesterday at 6:00 a.m. and has not returned. A caller has expressed concern for her well-being and no other information is available at this time,” police originally said in a statement to Billboard.

While Wilmette Police Chief Brian King told the Chicago Tribune: “We generated an information bulletin for local law enforcement, which has apparently made its way to social media. Officers conducted checks of the area in which she was last observed, including parks and beaches.”

Thankfully, the 49-year-old has since been found “safe and is no longer listed as a missing/endangered person” after remaining incommunicado for more than 24 hours.

She was reportedly found at a local hotel and, according to an unverified report in the Daily Beast, has now been taken to a nearby hospital.

According to NME, concerns were raised over the troubled singer’s mental health, following a series of posts she’d made to Facebook, seemingly referencing an ongoing custody battle over her sons.

The whole thing comes six months after a similar incident when O’Connor posted a disturbing note to Facebook threatening to commit suicide following “a horrific set of betrayals” that she’d accused her family of perpetrating against her.

Since then, she’s continued to very publicly display some very worrying behaviour, with her latest Facebook post (below) seemingly directed at her eldest son, Jake Reynolds.

She’s also currently being sued for $5 million by late night TV host Arsenio Hall, after publicly accusing him of supplying drugs to late music icon Prince.

Watching someone spiral is always a terrible and distressing affair. Let’s hope Sinead is getting the help and support she needs.
