Thy Art Is Murder Announce National Tour

Blacktown’s finest are ready to rock Australia on an east coast tour. Thy Art is Murder are bringing their Coffin Dragger tour back home after racking an impressive 39 dates in the US of A.

Intriguingly, the announced dates cover only regional centres and non-capital cities. There’s eleven dates stretching from as north as the Sunshine Coast and as west as Warnambool. While the Phoenix Youth Centre in Footscray fills in for Melbourne, at the moment it looks like Brisbane and Sydney are being bypassed. Expect that space to be filled, so watch closely.

Joining Thy Art Is Murder on vocals will be Lochlan Watt, headbanger-in-chief on triple j’s The Racket, who dropped the mixing board for the microphone as he became TAIM’s temporary frontman for their 39-date American tour.

The vocalist position was made vacant by CJ McMahon, who created a bit of a wave after he amicably left the band over personal and financial concerns.

“This is the third iteration of the coffin dragger,” says guitarist Andy Marsh. “The idea being to drag death (metal {lol}) around the world to places we’ve never been before. The US leg saw us go to many states we’d never seen before, Europe we are going as Far East as Transylvania and now the Australian leg will see us play a whole bunch of regional towns, some we’ve never done, and others we’ve neglected for quite some time.”

2016 has been a heady time for Thy Art is Murder. After 2015 saw their new album Holy War reach the heady heights (the very heady heights if you’re an extreme metal band) of #7 on the ARIA charts, so far this year the band have been blitzing both Europe and North America.
