Axl Rose Keeps Asking AC/DC If He Can Do More Shows, Says Angus Young

AC/DC guitarist Angus Young says the band’s current stand-in singer, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, is keen to do more performances with the group after its current tour. That said, Young has reaffirmed that the band is yet to decide on its future.

Speaking to NDR alongside his bandmate Cliff Williams, Young says that while Acca Dacca are focused on their current tour, Rose is looking ahead.

“We’re committed to finishing this tour, so that’s been our main goal. Axl helping us – I know he’s very excited,” Young says.

“He keeps saying, can he do more? But we don’t really know at the end. This tour, which we were committed to doing, we want to finish it.”

Elsewhere in the interview (below), Young praises Rose for “volunteering” to perform with the band. “He’s doing very well,” Young says. “He’s had to learn a lot of songs very quickly, and he’s done a great job.”

Young says Rose’s injured foot, which he broke at the beginning of Guns N’ Roses’ reunion tour, is on the mend.

“His leg’s repairing. Each show we’ve been doing, he’s been getting up and moving around a lot more. So it adds to the show,” he says.

Earlier this month, Rose said the future of AC/DC is “about what [AC/DC] wanna do”, but added that he’d be up for anything if they decide to keep him around.

AC/DC’s regular singer Brian Johnson decided to leave the band on doctor’s orders in March, due to an ear injury. In an interview earlier this month, Johnson sounded as if he may never play with AC/DC again, saying, “I’m 68 — I’m 69 later this year — and I’ve had a pretty good run… I’ve been in one of the best bands in the world.”

AC/DC currently have six European shows sitting in their schedule, so Axl Rose has at least another six shows to play with the band.
