Dappled Cities Share New Single ‘That Sound’, Announce Headline Shows

Mainstays of the native live music scene Dappled Cities have shared a brand new single aptly titled That Sound. The track comes hand in hand with murmurs of a new album and two headline shows to celebrate it all.

Taking to triple j to give the track its first public outing, the band’s singer-guitarist Tim Derricourt cited Todd Rundgren and David Bowie as key power cells to the new jam, which is the first sign of life from their forthcoming and fith studio album.

“We found ourselves in Byron Bay making a fittingly relaxed and positive record, taking all that we love about weirdo indie rock and adding some of that sweet 70s good time vibes to it – mellow beats, plenty of cowbell, layers of harmonies – true splendour.”

The track was a much-welcomed hit of later summer afternoons on an otherwise dreary Sydney day. The follow up to 2012’s Lake Air may not have a title but it’s already got That Sound, which is sure to keep the airwaves warm over the coming weeks.
