Watch Yeo’s Keytar-tastic Cover Of Japanese Wallpaper For ‘Like A Version’

Indie electro artist Yeo is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer. His bucketloads of talent are second only to his incredible execution and as well as recording a bunch of solo tracks he’s also worked with legendary Aussie duo Hermitude.

Yeo made his way into the triple j studio with fellow bandmate Andy this morning to perform a cover of Japanese Wallpaper‘s chiller tune Forces for Like A Version. The cover starts off unassuming enough, before Yeo kicks it into gear with his keytar and some intense falsetto.

What ensues is a track full of drum fills and glitchy samples, all culminating in a raucous keytar solo from Yeo, which prompted triple j’s Alex Dyson to declare “There’s flames coming off the keytar!”

“Alex has brought the keytar in, and I’ve always sat there watching – looking at it going ‘I don’t understand the point of that’,” admitted co-host Matt Okine. “You honestly made me realise the keytar can be cool”.

Cool perhaps, but Yeo may be the hottest young keytarist in Australia right now and while in the studio he also rocked a stripped back version of his own track Icarus.
