UPDATE 17/08/2016: Shakafest organisers have revealed the third and final lineup announcement.
Shakafest, a new Gold Coast festival reppin’ “all things street, skate and music”, has announced its inaugural lineup, featuring Perth MC Drapht, Brisbane rockers Dune Rats and Sydney hip hop duo Spit Syndicate.
Set to take place in and around the car park of Gold Coast venue Miami Tavern this August, Shakafest 2016 will also host sets by White Blanks, Kiama indie-rockers The Vanns and Gold Coast locals Ivey, Peach Fur and Von Villains.
Shakafest is being billed as a reflection of the Gold Coast’s street scene, and is promising to combine hip hop, grunge, surf rock and DJ tunes with graffiti art. A huge half-pipe for the vert skaters is also planned, as well as a little something for the street heads. RedBull and Fiik Skateboards are putting together “the ultimate skate demo” for the day as well.
