Queens Of The Stone Age Are Working On New Material

Three years on from their sixth studio offering …Like Clockwork, Queens Of The Stone Age are prepping mind, body and spirit to do it again. Our boy Josh Homme confirmed as much in a recent episode of the Let There Be Talk podcast.

Since 2013, the project was put on Homme’s back burner as he focused on other projects (a la Eagles of Death Metal and his collab with Iggy Pop) but focus has returned. “Yeah, [a QOTSA return is up next on my schedule]. Same lineup, we’re locked in. We’re having a meeting tomorrow about what we’re gonna do.”

In March 2015 bassist Michael Shuman announced the band would be taking a knee for the next little while following a hectic touring schedule. The whole gang must all be well rested as per Homme’s comment, the “same lineup” will be returning to the grind.

Could this mean the return of bassist Nick Oliveri? Who briefly rejoined the band onstage in 2014? And also provided backing vocals on If I Had a Tail? Probably not. BUT most likely the stellar cast from …Like Clockwork including Troy Van Leeuwen on the gee-tar and maybe, maybe a return of Dave Grohl to the sticks – he does after all have some time up his sleeve.
