Triple J’s Unearthed High Is Back For Another Semester

After what we assume was a highly productive and relaxing break, triple j Unearthed High is back for another semester of teenage tunes. Submissions for the Unearthed High Class Of 2016 are now open with a winner to be announced after finalists in August.

If you’re currently jamming in or with a High School music project, you’d be hard pressed to compile an argument as to why you shouldn’t enter. Previous years have seen the likes of Japanese Wallpaper, Asta, Stonefield, Snakadaktal and of course Mosquito Coast, explode from the realms of Unearthed and onto airwaves and stages all throughout the country.

The winner will cop national airplay on triple j, a trip to the studio to record and mix your single as well as some hard earned advice from industry figures. And before you get any bright ideas, at least half the band must be in high school.

Triple j have also announced a new Indigenous initiative for Unearthed High. As well as being eligible for the major prize, the best Unearthed High entry from an Indigenous artist will win priceless and ongoing mentoring from the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and clock some hours with APRA AMCOS Songmakers program. All genres of music are welcome.

Also to be eligible, you have to have a track uploaded to Unearthed, list your school year and school. All entries must be in by Monday, 1st August.
