Rapper, recent bankrupt and profanity poet 50 Cent (real name Curtis James Jackson III) has been arrested for swearing during his set at a music festival in the Caribbean over the weekend, in what’s one of the least-gangster news stories of the year so far.
As TMZ reports, Fiddy was arrested on the island of Saint Kitts on Saturday night, where it’s apparently illegal to say the word “motherfucker” in public.
50 was reportedly warned not to swear during his performance in front of around 40,000 people at Saint Kitts Music Festival, but the MC supposedly didn’t have a clean version of his set prepared, so he just let rip anyway.
Footage of Fiddy performing at the event (below) sees him drop numerous blows of “motherfucker” for the crowd, but at least he didn’t refuse to leave the stage like he did earlier this month when his set was cut short.
Following his profanity-laden set in Saint Kitts, 50 was taken to the local police station by a group of cops, who booked him for the minor offence of using profanity in public. The rapper has paid a fine for the charge, with one of his representatives saying the rapper “will leave the ‘motherfucker’ in the United States” on future trips to Saint Kitts.
A similar incident took place in 2003, when rapper DMX was also arrested and fined for using indecent language at a performance in Saint Kitts.
