The Strokes Make A Weird Statement About Capitalism In ‘Threat Of Joy’ Video

Throughout the years, The Strokes have shown us they give great video clip and it still seems that the visual component holds a special spot to the returned band who have unloaded an official video for current single Threat Of Joy in the form of a statement on capital C, Capitalism.

Part epic, part performance, the Threat Of Joy clip follows a rough concept of ‘What if…the corporations began to suffocate the creative arts for a profit? What if…that’s already happening behind the scenes?’ Very meta indeed.

The track also features ya boy Julian Casablancas being forcibly removed by a SWAT team in a brief moment that begs the question “Oh…That’s the best take they got?”

The track, and all its moral integrity, feature on the band’s brand new EP Future Past Present they Beyoncé’d on us recently – The first new material from the band in a number of years. The only uncertainty now about The Strokes is if they’ll order the steak or chicken on the flight down for Splendour In The Grass 2016.
