Weezer & Trent Reznor Have Both Written New Songs, For NASA

Apple Music and American space agency NASA have commissioned two of their country’s most out-of-this-world musicians to commemorate an historic space mission, through song.

Those musicians are Weezer and Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor (incredibly, Tom DeLonge was not involved in any way).

Both artists have penned tunes that will soundtrack the landing of spacecraft Juno on the gas planet, following its five year voyage across the galaxy.

Reznor’s offering is a collab with his past partner in crime, Atticus Ross (whom he composed the Academy Award-winning Social Network soundtrack with). Dubbed Juno, it’s less of a song and more of a 9-minute spacey, ethereal soundscape.

Whereas Weezer’s contribution is a typically off-kilter tune dubbed I Love The USA.

“We were on tour abroad, and it got me thinking a lot about America, which lead to me write I Love The USA,” frontman Rivers Cuomo explained.

“When Apple Music and NASA asked us to be involved with Juno’s historic landing on July 4th, this song seemed like the perfect fit.”

Bonus fun fact: Weezer reckon they’re gonna tour Australia in January of 2017!
