Run The Jewels’ El-P Gives PokéRap Remix Winner Their Badge, Has Learnt His Lesson

Run The Jewels’ El-P’s process of atonement for irking the Pokémon community is now complete, with the rapper announcing a winner of his Pokémon Go freestyle remix competition. Kid Kip Cozy was behind the badge-winning flip which you can hear below.

The Scottish producer was one of many who rose to the challenge set by GymOwnerEL-P to remix his Pokémon GO-themed freestyle rap, released as an apology for ripping on the augmented reality and those who have immersed themselves in it, in the short space of time it’s been available.

Last weekend, El-P launched a massive Twitter rant on the subject documenting his process from troll to being trolled from the vicious and intimidating Pokémon “Legion”:

“I’ve gotten more negative feedback from the pokemon community than i have from trump supporters. im actually impressed.”

But it didn’t take long for him to see the error of his ways:

“I will be reaching out to leaders of the pokemon community. listening. understanding. improving myself and my capacity for empathy.”

Eventually, he was moved to the point of releasing a freestyle, offering an olive branch to fans in the form of a remix competition. Which leads us to right now. You can hear Kip Cozy’s work below.

Meanwhile, our very own Stiffys have gone even further – making a song with actual drums and guitar and stuff.
