Beyoncé, Adele & More Among 2016 Emmy Nominees

The nominees for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced, with the likes of Beyoncé, Adele and Lady Gaga landing nods for their latest video productions.

Adele has picked up a total of four nods thanks to her Adele Live In New York City NBC broadcast event, which is up for Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Technical Direction, and Outstanding Lighting Design/Direction.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s Lemonade short film has also landed four nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Production Design and Outstanding Picture Editing.

Elsewhere, Lady Gaga’s anti-rape track Til It Happens To You is nominated after being featured in the documentary The Hunting Ground, but if it wins the award will go to co-writer Diane Warren, and not Mother Monster.

Comedian Bill Murray’s musical Netflix special A Very Murray Christmas is also up for Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Music Direction, while Netflix’s documentary about the late Nina Simone — What Happened, Miss Simone? — is up for awards in six categories, and music-related shows like Vinly and Empire are also up for gongs.
