Watch This Collection Of Floppy Discs & Computer Hard Drives Perform Darude’s Classic ‘Sandstorm’

‘The Floppotron’ is back once again to gift the internet with a floppy drive cover of an iconic song we didn’t know we needed.

Just in case you’re not familiar with ‘The Floppotron’, it’s a “computer hardware orchestra” made up of 64 floppy drives, eight hard disk drives and two scanners to make digital music which is both visually and sonically impressive.

This time around Darude‘s Sandstorm has been given ‘The Floppotron’ treatment and it actually sounds scarily close to the original.

Darude’s early ’00s hit, which has come back into vogue in the last few years thanks to the internet, kind of sounded like a computer going into overdrive anyway so this cover isn’t too much of a stretch but it’s the work of a genius nonetheless. It also comes complete with a video which will either intrigue you or give you severe anxiety. Happy Monday!

The Finnish producer is due to tour the country in September but unfortunately it’s unlikely that he’s going to bring 64 floppy drives with him, even though that probably would’ve been the best digital storage option when Sandstorm was at its peak.

If you can’t get enough of this cover, this internet genius has also used ‘The Floppotron’ to cover songs Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit and the Game Of Thrones theme.
