Against Me! Announce New Album, Unleash Absolute Anthem “333”

Against Me! have announced plans to back up 2014’s Transgender Dysphoria Blues with what will be the group’s seventh studio album Shape Shift With Me. The album is shaping up to be an absolute belter, or so says lead track and anthem-to-be 333.

Speaking to triple j, vocalist Laura Jane Grace detailed the plot behind the album, explaining that it’s about love but from a difference perspective to the punk rock love story status quo, and wanted to offer a response to classics of the genre such as The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main St.

“There’s been an infinite amount of records talking about what love means from a cisgender perspective. I wanted to present the trans perspective on sex, love and heartbreak.”

“For me, having always been in a punk band that was expected to be political, I never felt like I had that option to write about feelings in that way. That’s what I ended up being drawn to this time. It’s writing in a way I thought I could never write before, and not giving a shit about expectations.”

The album will drop Friday, 16th September on their own label Total Treble and we doubt we’ll be pumping 333 any less by then. You can check it out with the album art and tracklist below.
