At Least Two Dead Following Mass Shooting At All-Ages Nightclub Event In Florida

At least two people have been killed and up to 16 others injured during what appears to be (as much as it pains as to say it, yet another) mass shooting in the US.

As CNN reports, an unknown number of gunmen opened fire in the carpark of an all-ages event taking place at a nightclub in Florida.

The live music event was advertised via Facebook as a “Swimsuit Glow Party” at Club Blu in the city of Fort Myers, north-west of Miami, with numerous reports billing it as a “teen night”.

The gunfire erupted at about 12:30am Monday morning (Florida time).

The situation is still unfolding, and the victims – both injured and deceased – have yet to be identified, meaning their ages at this point remain unknown.

The most recent media reports indicate that two people were fatally shot and “at least 14-16” others wounded, with their injuries ranging from “minor to life threatening”.

Though officers didn’t confirm how many shots were fired, at least 36 yellow evidence markers were reportedly placed around the front of the nightclub.

According to CNN, police now have three suspects in custody, following the discovery of two other “related crime scenes” involving shootings in the nearby area.

A search is continuing for all people who may be involved, as police continue to investigate a possible motive for the attack.

It follows the worst mass shooting in US history last month, which also went down in Florida, when a 29-year-old man killed 49 people and wounded 53 inside Pulse – a gay nightclub.

It wasn’t the only attack on music fans today, either. In Germany, a suicide bomber injured at least 12 people when he detonated a bomb outside the entrance to a music festival. Thankfully, the only casualty was himself.

We’ll bring you more on this story as it develops.
