Watch Prophets Of Rage’s Mosh Pit-Inducing Cover Of A RATM Classic On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Following recent show outside the Republican National Convention last week Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill super-group Prophets of Rage paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night.

For their television debut, Tom Morello’s “elite task force of revolutionary musicians” delivered the revolutionary goods, tearing through an updated rendition of Prophets Of Rage (an updated Public Enemy track) before slamming into Killing In The Name. The latter even got the crowd moshing, no mean feat for an afternoon talk show crowd.

Kicking things off with their fists raised and building to a massive RATM style crescendo while a siren rang out over the top, it was clear the band weren’t just there to have a good time. They meant business. With their motto of “Make America Rage Again” flashing behind them, if there was ever any doubt about the supergroup living up to the energy and passion of their other bands, it was soon dispelled.

Still they are not young men anymore, and so giving such an epic performance doesn’t happen without an intense training regime as Chuck D told Rolling Stone earlier this year.

“If you don’t do the songs right, you can die on fucking stage,” he said.

Swearing by Pilates which he describes as “the perfect core workout for any artist/entertainer”, the real key seems to have been his relentless rehearsing.

“It was five hours of relentless speed and energy. Four hours of yelling and loud and bringing the noise for five, six days a week. I don’t think normal people could do this shit. I don’t mean I’m abnormal, though.”
