Here’s Metallica Covering The ‘Pokémon’ Theme Song, Kind Of

Footage has emerged of metal legends Metallica covering the beloved Pokémon theme song at a recent concert. It’s heavy, fun and metal-friendly, the only thing is… it’s not real.

YouTuber Golpe Baixo, who was behind that hilarious video of Slipknot covering Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca, has expertly mashed up video from a Metallica live show with a rockin’ cover of the Pokémon theme recorded by the band Redeemers, and the result (below) somehow makes ‘Tallica both cute and kinda inspirational.

Since the launch of the Pokémon GO mobile game, the Pokémon theme song has been given a hardcore cover by US band Issues, while Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has said the game will eventually die out just like any other fad.

Metallica’s new album, the follow-up to 2008’s Death Magnetic, probably won’t feature a cover of the Pokémon theme song, but it is expected to arrive in October.

Until then, watch the band cover the Pokémon theme song, below.
