HOBOFOPO Is Australia’s New “Folk Punk Orgy” Festival

Australia has a new folk punk festival called HOBOFOPO, which is heading to Hobart for a “four day folk punk orgy” around the city’s various venues later this year.

Taking over the pubs and streets of Tasmania’s largest city from 10th November, HOBOFOPO is being put together by local punks The Dead Maggies and Folk ‘Til Ya Punk Records, and they’re promising to let things get loud with the help of some of the biggest names in Aussie folk-punk and local Tassie talent.

The first acts named on the inaugural HOBOFOPO lineup are five-piece punk band The Go Set, Sydney bush-punks Handsome Young Strangers (pictured) and Brisbane’s celtic-punk outfit Fox ‘N’ Firkin.

The acoustic anarcho-punk of This Is. A Robbery will be reppin’ for Tassie, as will the teens from local high-school band Squid Fishing. More acts are still to be announced for the festival, with a total of over 15 acts expected to take part.

The first-ever HOBBOFOPO Festival will take place between Thursday, 10th and Sunday, 13th November 2016. Catch the event’s first-ever lineup announcement, below.
