New Soundgarden Album! Chris Cornell Gives the Details

Soundgarden are about to head in to the studio to record their first album since 1996.

Chris Cornell spoke to SPIN Magazine this week, saying “We start recording in about a week in Seattle,” but they plan to spend as long as they need to make an album that they all really love… adding… “We don’t have a schedule … It’s not like we are going to go into the studio and come out when we’re finished with an album … The process of writing, recording, and being creative together is the most important thing, not meeting a deadline.”.

Cornell will be playing his acoustic solo tour between studio sessions as well as some live dates for Soundgarden. This may push the recording time further as well.

There was some talk of Soundgarden touring Australia in early 2011, but with the news of them going in to the studio, it now seems unlikely.
