The Maccabees Are Breaking Up

British band The Maccabees have taken to social media to announce that they are breaking up.

The band have been together for 14 years and in that time have released four albums but they have decided to call it a day.

While they have given no specific reason for the split, they noted in an online letter that, “there have not been any fallings out and we are delighted to say that we are not leaving the group behind as a divided force.”

“It has been a rare and absolutely incredible time that we all feel very luck to have shared,” they further wrote.

While they are going their seperate ways, they’re not doing so without one last celebration and have noted that there will be “farewell celebration shows announced”.

It’s unknown whether these will be worldwide shows or just contained to the UK. The band were in Australia for Falls Festival over New Year’s and also played a handful of sideshows at the beginning of this year.

Their last album Marks To Prove It was their first and only number one record in the UK and was also their only release to crack the charts here in Australia.
