De La Soul And Little Dragon Team Up On Minimal Slow Jam ‘Drawn’

With the release of and the Anonymous Nobody, their first full length release in ten years, fast on the way, hip hop legends De La Soul have just dropped the fourth track off the album so far, an amazing collaboration with Little Dragon.

Titled Drawn, the track is definitely not what you would expect from the iconic rappers. Starting off as a sparse and minimal soundscape of synths and Yukimi Nagano’s always stunning voice, the song slowly builds its way to a seamless transition into more traditional hip hop territory.

Following on from previous teaser tracks Trainwreck, Pain (ft Snoop Dogg), and Royalty Capes, Drawn certainly shows a different side of the group as well as hinting at the kind of musical diversity we can expect from the album.

Promising to be one of the most exciting releases in the genre this year, it’s safe to say after hearing the track that this won’t be another exercise of classic hip hop purism. At least not entirely, as the three previous songs released off the album suggest, there is still plenty of room for that as well as weirder fare like this.

I for one say bring on the weirdness. More atmospheric rap-scapes please.

You can check out the song for yourself here below while and the Anonymous Nobody is due to be released on Friday 26th August.
