Singer, percussionist and Prince’s former fiancé and collaborator Sheila E. has announced two Australian headline shows on top of her Meredith Festival appearance.
She’ll play two headline shows, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne, promising a bunch of new tracks as well as a selection of classics. The performances will be her first in Australia since 2010, and she’s only playing a handful of live dates this year in the US and Australia, so they’ll no doubt be pretty special shows.
Throughout a career that spans four decades, Sheila E. has released seven solo albums and has also worked with Prince, Beyoncé, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez and plenty more.
Sheila E. features on some of Prince’s most iconic recordings, like Purple Rain, Let’s Go Crazy and Sign O’ The Times. After his death earlier this year, she performed a moving tribute at the BET Awards, before releasing her own tribute track, Girl Meets Boy, which is the lead single from a forthcoming album due later this year.
