Bluesfest Reveals First 2017 Lineup Announcement

UPDATE 05/10/16: Bluesfest 2017 just got even bigger, with the addition of the legendary Neil Young act as the Byron Bay festival’s headline act.

UPDATE 22/09/16: the lineup for Bluesfest 2017 has expanded following a second artist announcement.

In typical Bluesfest style, festival organisers are already deep into prepping for the 2017 edition of their Byron Bay event, despite it still being over six months away.

The 28th edition of Bluesfest will take place over the Easter long weekend in April next year, and organisers have today start to reveal which artists will be playing.

The Grammy award-winning Zac Brown Band will return to Bluesfest after last performing at the festival just two years ago, this time with their latest platinum-certified record JEKYLL + HYDE in tow. They’ll be joined by Patti Smith, who makes her Bluesfest debut and returns to Australia for the first time in eight years to perform her most well known recording, Horses.

The Lumineers will also make the trip to Australia off the back of their sophomore album Cleopatra, joining Bluesfest favourite Buddy Guy, ten time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt, and acclaimed gospel, soul and blues singer Mavis Stapes.

No word or confirmation of any kind yet on Bluesfest boss Peter Noble’s hints earlier this year that Prophets of Rage and Radiohead may be in the mix, but that hasn’t stopped Bluesfest from dropping a killer first lineup announcement for 2017.

Punters will also get a chance to see Jethro Tull, Trombone Shorty & New Orleans Avenue, Gregory Porter, Billy Brag and loads more. Catch the full list of acts from the first lineup announcement alongside ticket details, below.
