A Britney Spears TV Biopic Movie Is In The Works

With the release of her latest album Glory happening tomorrow, US cable television network Lifetime have decided to jump on the Britney Spears bandwagon, announcing today that they are working on a television movie telling the story of the singer’s life. That’s right, Britney is back bitches and she’s on multiple platforms. Get used to it.

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, the biopic will supposedly tell the “tumultuous true story” of Spears’ meteoric rise, catastrophic fall and Glory-ious return to stardom. It looks set to cover all the juiciest parts of the singer’s life, touching on her relationship with Justin Timberlake and troubled marriages to Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline, as well as the much publicised personal breakdown which saw her lose custody of her sons. There isn’t exactly a lack of interesting material here.

With Hail,Ceasar star Natasha Bennett reportedly set to play the singer, there’s still no word however on who will play the young Timberlake or any of the other men in the film. Let’s just hope that we get to see Timberlake rockin’ that amazing frosted tips hairdo from the early NSYNC days.

Produced by Asylum Entertainment (I’m not even joking), Anne-Marie Hess will write the script and Leslie Libman (Manson’s Lost Girls) will direct, with Steve Michaels, Jonathan Koch and Joan Harrison along as executive producers. Set to begin production on Monday, 19th September in Vancouver, the biopic is lined up for a 2017 premiere, which despite being further away than we would like (give it to us now!!!!) is still very soon.

Mind you, Spears herself has probably barely had any time to notice; with the release of Glory due tomorrow she has been in promotional overdrive. Appearing on the Late Late Show to try her hand at Carpool Karaoke with host James Cordon tonight, as well as performing on the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, she’s also extended her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood through February 2017. Talk about busy.

While it may be years until we get to see the divine Ms B down under again, you can ratchet up the excitement for Glory by checking this teaser trailer for her Carpool Karaoke appearance here below.
