King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Announce Gizzfest Will Return In 2016

Melbourne’s own psychedelic warrior collective King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have announced that their national festival Gizzfest is returning for the second year running in 2016.

Following on from last year’s events which saw a who’s who of the Australian psych scene take over venues around the country, the 2016 instalment of Gizzfest promises to be bigger and better than the last.

Mind you, all we have to go off right now is a sole Facebook post from the band, which is pretty damn short and straight to the point:

Not exactly the Gettysburg Address is it?

Still, going on what we know about last year’s events — that saw bands like The Murlocs, The Laurels and even Dave Graney joining King Gizzard on the Gizzfest stage — this is going to be one hell of a party, as well as a celebration of all the great music being turned out by some of the country’s most exciting bands.

Currently on tour in Europe though, we have no word who (or what) will be taking to the stage when Gizzfest makes it’s triumphant return this year. However, considering the band longtime involvement and support of the country’s psych scene, it’s likely we’ll see a lot of familiar faces and names alongside the band when the time comes.

Stay tuned for more info, and in the meantime catch the band’s latest video for their track Robot Stop, made by Jason Galea, below.
