Fenech Soler Singer Diagnosed With Cancer

Ben Duffy of British electro outfit Fenech Soler has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, causing the band to cancel their upcoming UK tour.

According to Spinner, Duffy released a statement saying, “We are really sorry to postpone these shows. The diagnosis has been a big shock for all of us but on the positive side it has been caught very early and the recovery rate for this type of cancer is extremely high. I will be continuing to write and work with the band during my treatment and the others will continue to fulfill all DJ engagements.”

He continued, “Everyone is very upbeat that I will be fighting fit again in a couple of months. We just want to ask our fans to bear with us while I have treatment and recover. I can’t wait to get back on stage and continue with what has been an amazing last year for us.”

Fenech Soler released their self-titled debut album in September, and were touring in Australia in early 2011 and played the Good Vibrations Festival. The band, who hail from Northamptonshire in the English midlands, will donate all proceeds from the upcoming single Stop and Stare to Britain’s Teenage Cancer Trust.
