Tool Really Want You To Stop Asking About Their New Album

Tool have a new album in the works — that’s something we’ve been certain of for quite some time. But you can’t rush art, and bassist Justin Chancellor would really like it if everyone stopped asking when the new record is going to be released.

In a recent interview with Top Guitar (below), Chancellor anticipates straight away that the presenter is about to ask about the forthcoming record, and jumps in straight away with “no, don’t ask that question”.

“Just trust me, it’s going to be awesome,” he says. “It’s gonna happen, it’s in the oven. It’s cooking, it’s cooking.”

And yep, it was just as awkward as the mental image that gave you.

The new album will be Tool’s long-awaited follow up to their 2006 LP 10,000 Days, and the band have been teasing its release for years now. The interview footage below even includes a run down of just about every time the band have mentioned the new album since 2008.

What else we know is that they’ve worked with a member of Guns N’ Roses on the album, and that the shortest song on it is apparently a measly 12 minutes long.

We also know that this isn’t an oven so much as it is a slow cooker, considering the band have been“grinding away” on the album four days a week.

Oh and now we also know not to ask about it.
