Nirvana Debunk Conspiracy Theory Suggesting Kurt Cobain Is Still Alive

Nirvana have taken to Facebook to laugh off suggestions that Kurt Cobain may still be alive, living in Peru, having learnt to play the guitar with his non-dominant hand.

The latest wack-job conspiracy theory to do the rounds online has been broken down in a thrilling expose by The Daily Mail – and suggests that Kurt Cobain faked his own death in 1994, and has lived in Peru for the past 20 years.

According to the article, the theory came to light after a video of Peruvian singer Ramiro Saavedra emerged performing Come As You Are was shared online. Fans were apparently quick to point out the resemblance between Saavedra and the deceased Nirvana member, although others were even quicker to point out how ridiculous it all was not least of which because Cobain played guitar with his left hand and Saavedra is right handed. Oh and he’s also a well-known Cobain impersonator.

Tongue firmly in cheek, Nirvana shared the Mail‘s article – and captioned; “It is true, Kurt is alive. He needed time to learn to play the guitar with his right hand. Finding left-handed guitars is not easy. We are so happy to have him back and forgive him for all of the sadness that we have held so deeply in our hearts.”

In the process, they were forced to respond to a number of Facebookers who took the post deadly seriously – prompting the band’s moderator to comment; “I thought people like conspiracy theories. I can’t do anything right!”
