Twenty One Pilots and My Chemical Romance are (and were) two awesome, game-changing bands who forged their careers out of writing songs that made kids wanna jump around on the outside and cry on the inside.
So the prospect of one of them covering a song by the other is intriguing, to say the least.
And that’s just what’s happened.
Twenty One Pilots have had a crack at recording their own rendition of My Chem’s heart-wrenching Black Parade ballad Cancer, even gifting it with its own lyric video.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuut we’re not sure we’re 100% sold. I mean, Gerard Way’s emotionally cracking, despair-wrought vocals are what made this song such a masterpiece, and 21P’s more chilled, ambient and structurally chopped-up version is definitely – well – a different interpretation.
