Watch Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong In His First Lead Comedy Role

At the same time as he’s been churning out action-packed new music videos with Green Day on the small screen, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has also been flexing his acting chops on the big one.

The 44-year-old bonafide slashie is set to make his leading role debut in a Hollywood comedy dubbed Ordinary World, where he stars as an ageing punk-rocker-turned-family man who throws one hell of a box social to stave off his midlife crisis.

BJ stars alongside SNL veteran Fred Armisen and actress Selma Blair (Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions) in the flick, the first trailer for which has just been released.

And if the shorts are anything to go by, then this movie’s actually going to be stacked full of new Green Day tunes as well.

As Alt Press reports, the film was originally entitled Geezer, but then got renamed after a song that Armstrong wrote for the movie i.e. Ordinary World, which just-so-happens to also be the closing track on Green Day’s forthcoming album Revolution Radio.

From the looks of the trailer, the dramady looks like it’s going to be fun for the whole family, filled with cheesy LOLs at dad’s expense and a lot of heart to boot.

And as Billie Joe is the embodiment of the ageing punk rocker, this is pretty much the greatest casting decision since Bojack Horseman was tapped for Secretariat.
