The Avalanches Announce 2017 Australian Tour

The Avalanches have announced their first live headline shows in Australia since the release of Wildflower, their first album in 13 years.

The Aussie sampling-geniuses returned to the Aussie live circuit earlier this year with a slot at Splendour In The Grass but this time around they’re doing their own tour. That’s on top of appearances at this year’s Falls Festival.

In an interview with Fairfax, it was revealed that the group would announce Australian dates tomorrow, however, the dates were printed at the bottom of the article. So far there are dates announced for Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

The live lineup includes Tony Di Blasi and Robbie Chater as well as drummer Eliza Wolfgramm, US rapper Spank Rock and Paris Jeffree. It’s the same grouping that appeared at Splendour In The Grass, however, Di Blasi has promised a different show to Splendour.

“We had time coming in to Splendour, but probably not as much as we would have liked, to make the show as good as we could. Now we have the time,” he said.

“Splendour was a matter of playing the songs as they were, but now we’ll be doing extensions and rejigging a few. We’ll take the music to the new level we know it can get to.”

Another thing they did reveal which is sure to put fans into a spin is that they’re expecting to release their third album in 2018 which would be a significantly smaller wait than it was between album one and two.

“We’re excited about making music and I believe we can turn a third album around quickly,” Di Blasi said.

Check out the dates below and keep your eyes peeled for more details tomorrow.
