The Dillinger Escape Plan Share New Single ‘Symptom Of Terminal Illness’

The Dillinger Escape Plan have gone above and beyond their usual penchant for technical metal on their new single Symptom Of Terminal Illness. The track, which will feature on their impending album Dissociation, has vocals, guitar and drums coming at you from all directions, like friggin’ swooping crows.

On the same note, Symptom Of Terminal Illness is about as minimal as a Dillinger song can get. Moments of atmospheric chit-chat between instruments explode at a moment’s notice into an assault of shred and double kick. Vocalist Greg Puciato one again proves to be a magician, creating layers and tones that just shouldn’t exist.

When held up next to previous single Limerent Death, it does seem that the new album will be as weird as the band has foretold.

The Dillinger Escape Plan also made it very clear that this may be their last album, and they’ll be hitting an “extended hiatus” following its release and supporting tour. So DEP seem to be going hell for leather, and that is just fine with us.

Dissociation drops Friday, 14th October. Catch Symptom Of Terminal Illness, below.
