Soundwave’s AJ Maddah Says Underoath Are Touring Australia Soon

UPDATE 29/09/16: AJ Maddah has further told Music Feeds that the band are coming “early next year”.

So we’re just here, minding our own business, when AJ Maddah — boss of the now-extinct Aussie music festival Soundwave (RIP) — just casually drops this doozy:

double take

Look at Maddah’s smiley face emoji — it’s like he’s so innocently oblivious to the fact that he just pulled the pin on an explosive truth grenade.

US post-hardcore kings Underoath announced their official breakup four years ago, just after they last visited Australia to blow our heads off at Soundwave 2012.

At the time, Aussie fans believed it had been their last chance to see the iconic act live ever again, but nek minnit it’s 2016 and not only have the band reactivated, but — if AJ is to be believed — they’re also preparing to head down under again soon.

And before you scoff, it does seem like Maddah remains pretty clued-in on the movements of his former SW acts. ICYMI: he was the first one to tease a new Aussie tour for Slipknot, and of course those rumours turned out to be 100% true.

Music Feeds has contacted Maddah for comment, and we’ve also copped a sneaky gander at Underoath’s current tour itinerary, which — after a flurry of dates across the year — seems to have no new shows listed past this month.

We’ll be sure to bring you any more info as it develops.
