Watch Radiohead Drop A Cover Of The Smiths Live

Radiohead haven’t really been performing covers live on their most recent tour, mostly because they have more than enough tunes in their own discography, but they found room for a cover of The Smiths at Austin City Limits in the US.

Thom Yorke and co. launched into a short version of The Smiths’ How Soon Is Now? before moving into 2+2=5 off Hail to the Thief.

It’s a pretty demure but beautiful cover that’s mostly acapella, driven by Yorke’s haunting voice. We reckon even Morrissey would approve if he heard it, not that anyone can guess Moz’s reaction to anything.

It’s not the first time Radiohead have taken on The Smiths. During a webcast in 2007 they covered The Headmaster Ritual.

Radiohead are currently touring their ninth album A Moon Shaped Pool which was released earlier this year. There are no plans for an Aussie visit just yet but we’re hoping it’s very soon.
