The Internet Reveal Plans For A New Album In 2017

Musical shape-shifters The Internet have opened up about their plans to release a follow-up to to their Grammy-nominated 2015 album Ego Death. As it turns out, the as-yet-untitled release will be heavily informed by its older sibling.

Speaking to The Fader, the LA outfit explain that while they’re all off doing their own side adventures, the new album from The Internet is slowly starting to take shape.

The album, which will be the fourth from the band, has been slated for release between March and May of 2017. They’ve confirmed work will begin on the record this month.

The Internet appear to have had the war talks about the album, with key ingredient Matt Martians revealing they have a game plan. “We’re gonna get in a room with some instruments and we’re gonna make shit and come up with mad grooves and record ’em,” he says.

Martians says the band will use a similar process to write and record their new album to what they used for the Ego Death track Under Control, and it seems as though they got a lot out that process.

Under Control to me sounds different than the rest of [Ego Death]; it sounds like the whole band’s on that song. All the other songs, it wasn’t six peoples energy spread out. That song is the first true Internet song,” he says.

In an amongst the group’s new album, frontwoman Syd tha Kyd will be tackling her side project titled Dive, while Matt will be furthering his currently untitled solo career and fellow members Jameel Bruner and Patrick Paige II will be doing something similar.

Given the band’s penchant for touring down under, most recently as part of Splendour In The Grass, you can bet we will have some solid real estate on their new album tour dates.
