US Festival Vendor Mocks Morrissey By Naming Pork Sandwich After Him

Veteran English singer-songwriter Morrissey now has a pork sandwich named after him, after a festival food vendor fought back against having to stop selling meat for a two-hour block around the singer’s performance.

As DNAinfo Chicago reports, all vendors at Chicago’s Riot Fest last month ceased selling meat during the period, in respect for the former Smiths frontman, who is an animal rights activist and vegetarian (remember Meat Is Murder?).

The food vendor, Puffs Of Doom, was less than happy with the “ridiculous” treatment by Morrissey and his management, which saw them “bullied” into ceasing meat service, and now they’ve fought back by launching the ‘Pork Morrissey’ sandwich.

“It bullied these little businesses that are already having a hard time hacking it. What it doesn’t do is actually change anything,” says Puffs Of Doom co-owner Luke Petillon.

“With no time to make any adjustments, his management went to Riot Fest and was like, ‘Actually we changed our minds. It’s not that he doesn’t want to smell it. He’s a vegan activist.”

The Pork Morrissey contains bacon, three kinds of cheese and bourbon BBQ pulled pork, because ‘merica.

The latest development in Morrissey’s battle against meat comes after he neglected to list meat-friendly venues upon announcing the dates for his forthcoming tour of Australia, which kicks off next week. His shows will also therefore be strictly meat-free.
