Green Day Fan Joins The Band On Stage, Slays ‘When I Come Around’

It’s a fan favourite at any Green Day performance — when the band bring up members of the crowd to handle various instruments. The results usually span between cute through to cringe, but recently the band were damn near outclassed by a devotee who absolutely carpe’d the f*ck out of that diem.

At Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Thomas Bulvan stood patiently with the sign, “I can play every song on Dookie,” knowing full well that frontman Billy Joe Armstrong isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. Eventually, the moment happened and Bulvan was invited up to perform When I Come Around on guitar, before stealing the whole goddamn show.

The moment Armstrong put the guitar strap around Bulvan’s neck, he was off like a firecracker, running, jumping and power standing. And the best bit? Once he finishes, Bulvan hands back the axe, and stage dives back into the crowd from whence he came like it ain’t no thing. A true hero.

Catch footage of the brilliant moment, below.

Australian fans currently viewing all this with clunched firsts muttering ‘what about me???’ — you will have a chance soon enough, either at the band’s upcoming Australian tour, or maybe even when the American Idiot musical arrives down under.
