The Hampshire hotel in Camperdown has been revamped, renamed, and is now open – with the newly named Lady Hampshire set to be given a new lease on life with a new focus on live music.
In September Concrete Playground revealed that the pub had been purchased by Paddy Coughlan, the owner of popular Chippendale digs The Lord Gladstone.
Coughlan said in that interview that the Hampshire would be reopened with a new focus on live music. He said due to the stranglehold of Sydney’s lockout laws, “that makes it more important for venues to support art and support music, to give creative people an outlet, give them spaces to use, give them places to come and perform and just to hang out late at night.”
The Lady Hampshire’s new Facebook page has been a hive of activity over the past week or so, uploading new menus and wine lists – and more recently starting to create Facebook events for live music.
The news comes after conflicting reports emerged last week regarding whether Sydney’s Hopetoun Hotel would be reopened for live music, with former owners refuting Adrian Bull claims to have purchased the venue.
All live music bookings for the venue is being handled by The Music & Booze Co, who also frequently book musicians for Brighton Up Bar and Botany View Hotel.
