Hear The Cat Empire’s Stunning Leonard Cohen Cover

The Cat Empire have tipped their many hats to late music legend Leonard Cohen by sharing a stunning cover of his classic 1974 tune Lover Lover Lover.

“This song is our tribute to Leonard Cohen, whose voice and music will always be with us. Lover lover lover. #RIPLC,” the band posted on their official Facebook page after hearing news of the Canadian bard’s shock death last week at the age of 82.

The Melbourne ska collective recorded the tribute track back in 2012, but have only just released it officially to the public.

The Cat Empire’s rendition of the veteran tune is smoother and more stripped back than the original, and despite being sombre, still manages to uplift.

Meanwhile, Cohen’s official cause of death has been revealed today. According to his manager, the legendary singer-songwriter “died during his sleep following a fall in the middle of the night”.
