Garbage Drummer Butch Vig Pulls Out Of The Band’s Australian Tour

Garbage drummer Butch Vig has been forced to pull the plug on his forthcoming trip to Australia with the band, due to “ongoing sinus problems”.

Fans might smell garbage, but the iconic producer and stickman claims that doctors have advised him to sit out the band’s first Australian since 2013.

“I’m very disappointed I’m going to miss the upcoming shows, but the doctors want me to err on the side of caution,” he explains on Facebook. “Thanks to all our fans for understanding. I will be back!”

If Butch Vig’s name sounds familiar, that’s because he also produced one of the most iconic rock n’ roll records of all time: Nirvana’s Nevermind. Which basically earns him god-like status and unquestioning obedience.

Garbage have recruited Eric Gardner (who’s played with the likes of Gnarles Barkley and Tom Morello) to tag in for Vig on their imminent Aussie tour, which runs across late November and December.

Locals Tiny Little Houses, Tash Sultana and Olympia will be providing support at some of the band’s headlining dates dates, while Garbage have also been tapped to co-headline the A Day On The Green concert series with The Temper Trap, supported by The Preatures, Tash Sultana and Adalita.
